Boot Screen Show Two XP Operating Systems

Recently built new machine with XP Professional. Did NTFS format of HD
first for clean install. Every boot shows two instances of MS XP
Professional and asks me to select OS to boot.

Any advice?

Multiple operating systems listing in boot menu:
The list governed by Display list of operating systems option (Start -> Control Panel -> System -> Advanced button -> Startup and Recovery).

Edited boot.ini which had XP OS listed twice. Romoved duplicate entry and
all seem well now.
