Boot Screen Rolls/Spins

Whenever I boot my HP the Windows XP and HP screens roll/spin (which ever way
you want to put it). (This problem has been happening for a year now.)
Whenever I run a check disk, it does the same thing and I noticed that once
it does it a while, say rolling the right, it will slow down and reverse. But
it never eventually just stops, even after it "warms up". Is there any way
that I can fix this? Thank you!

If the problem is occuring during system boot but before Windows loads then
it is NOT a Windows problem but a hardware problem and is best brought to
the attention of HP.

What type of monitor do you have? I have had a similar problem before,
although it was with specialized multimedia equipment and the problem only
showed up on my secondary monitor, which ran through a scan converter
(changes the refresh rate of a signal for use in switching equipment.)

Anyway, sounds like your display doesn't support the default refresh rate or
resolution of the boot screen, which I believe is 60 hz, 640x480, 16 colors.
Perhaps more on the color depth, but that's a moot point.

It may be something that's unavoidable, but to experiment you might try
using another monitor just for grins?
