Don't know if it's related but ever since installing SP-2
I'm having problems booting up. I get to the windows XP
screen with the scrolling blue bars, it hangs a bit then
stops completely. I have to restart, sometimes several
times. Anyone know of a way I can look into this or a
solution?

Sorry, nothing specific...

Check Device Manager for unknown/improperly installed devices.
Install/update drivers as needed.
Disconnect all peripherals (except monitor, keyboard, and mouse). And try to
boot.
If it doesn’t help, check Event Viewer (Start - > Settings -> Control Panel
- > Administrative Tools - > Event Viewer) for possible errors.

Other things to try:

Clean Temporary Internet Files, Cookies and other temporary files:

Check for errors and defragment hard drive:

Clean Windows Startup and hidden Startup:

Spyware/Virus Removal and Prevention:

Hope this helps!

I had the same problem. I would get the start bar,but
icon on desktop would take an eon to refresh and startup
applications would take for ever. I misread this as a
problem with a driver for my scanner. But I think I was
wrong. It seems that sp2 install does alot of deleting
and updating. This leaves heavy deframentation on your
disk. I suggest you run disk defragmenter. Need help? Go
to My computer, select your hard drive, select
properties,tools \disk defragmenter

One thing to try.. Turn off unit.. turn on and right away
start tapping F8.. when Windows Advanced Options appears
try using SAFE MODE. When booted in.. Click Start > Run
and type msconfig. Click on the Startup tab and disable
all of the items except for if you see your anti-virus and
firewall program (if you have, i hope so). This can help..
Also check Device manager, via System in COntrol Panel.
See if there are any ! or ? marks. If there are consider
Reinstalling those drivers. Also consider doing a format
and reinstall of Windows XP if does not work...

Take care..
