Hi,
I have just tested a linux distro called Mandrake 9.2 , I
didnt like it so I removed it. it had left a boot handler
called LILO an my hard drive so I reinstalled it and
tried to remove the LILO . I then removed it again.
Now I cant boot up. If I try to boot from the HD I just
get a screen full of "99"'s I have to boot from the
floppy that I make from the boot files, that works.

Does anyone know how to repair this.

I have tried check disc. didnt work.

Here is an MS Knowledge Base article:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=/directory/worldwide
2Fen-gb%2Fdefault.aspx%3Fscid%3Dkb%3Ben-gb%3B315224%26ln%3Den-gb

Note that the url wraps in my newsreader and you'll need to enter it
into your browser's addressbar on one line. Or just do a Google using
the search term, "how to remove LILO".

Thanks but I was frightened to use the commands in
recovery console because last time I tried it I lost all
my partitions, so I used Partition Magic from the floppy
to delete and re create the local disc then I used Ghost
from restore a saved copy of my OS.
But thanks anyway.
I will avoid Linux in future, I have been using it for a
ew days and I couldnt use my scanner, printer or access
my E Mail, then it leaves things like this on my computer.
Linux is virus created by amateurs.

Like all operating systems - including Windows - Linux requires some
skill to use. I hardly think that someone who is frightened of the
commandline is qualified to judge the value of any operating system.
That said, you certainly made the right choice to stay away from Linux.
