I've got a Laptop and call me stupid but I did an online virus check which
brought up some results which I then deleted manually in my registry....(spot
what's coming). at that point my computer crashed and now no longer reboots
passed the second startup screen -blue with microsoft windows xp & logo with
deeper blue bands top and bottom of the screen. From there it freezes - no
error message nothing - i can move the mouse but nothing.
I cannot start it in safe mode or any other modes after pressing F8 -
freezes in same place
The computer did not come with the XP CD (wish It did) to repair etc
I can reach MSDOS prompt with the recovery disk
I've tried bootdisk.com but the XP start doesn't work in MSDOS and the
quick diskette doesn't get me any further
Rang Toshiba who just said 'full recovery CD' - thanks!
I am looking to reboot one last time to save the data and then fully restore
The last resort is a full recovery but I want to keep some data - some not
all photos which are not backed up --duh!!
The recovery CD has 2 options
1. Recover entire hard disk - lose everything
2. Expert Recovery mode - For PC experts only. Factory pre installed
software canbe installed onto an existing (bootable) parition. (I'm not an
expert!!) If this is a possiblity let me know!
thanks in advance
