Boot order changes or is lost?

Anyone else experience this? I connect a USB stick or external HD and the
next time I boot it says there is no boot device. Note that the USB device
has been removed before rebooting. Using an Intel 865PERL MB. No information
at Intel about it. USB boot is turned off in BIOS. FLoppy is turned off, the
only listed boot device is the HD. When I get this error BIOS has changed to
expect to boot to a generic "removeable device" as the only boot choice, and
there are none. I change the BIOS back but this it really going to mess with
customers.

Thanks,
Tom

Check with Intel or send an email to their tech support.

No BIOS should be altered at any time without deliberate user intervention.

One would expect that if as you say, the insertion of a USB device, cause
the BIOS to be reconfigured, then it is a major screw up in the system!
Generally BIOS is not dynamically / automatically re-configurable once an
operating system is loaded!
