Hello Pegasus,
Correct. Windows tries the default location to boot if it cannot find the
boot.ini..
First drive, first partition, and c:\windows.(c:\winnt for Windows 2000)

<my curiosity. The test confirms my suspicion: If Windows
<is installed in c:\Windows then the boot process complains
<about a missing or invalid boot.ini file but it will boot up
<regardless.
