I am trying to replade a dll in system32 and I need to
boot in safe mode.
By pressing F8 I get the menu for boot mode. I choose
boot in safe mode and windows boots in normal mode with
no message at all...
I am trying not to reinstall windows and actually I just
want to be able to replace opengl32.dll (original) by
some modified one I need to run a game (of course).
Any idea?

Thank and sorry for my poor english.

I don't know why it won't go into Safe Mode - how can you be sure it isn't
safe mode?
Anyway, do you have the XP CD so that you can boot from it and use the
Recovery Console to copy the file?

I don't know about you, but I would be damned if I would replace the
"official" Windows XP file with one from a game manufacturer. If the game's
manufacturer isn't smart enough to know how to utilize what is already
there, I would dump the game. If you go through with this, what will it
break when other programs/services/devices go to use this .dll?

Thanks for the advice

Well, I tried forcing booting into safe mode by using the msconfig utillity and guess what...Xp kept rebboting forever.
Anyway I found support about that safe mode issue and a reinstallation of XP was necessary
I finally replaced that file (temporally of course and thanks Richard, I totally agree with you but sometimes you just wanna play hehehe
