Can anyone tell me how to boot and XP machine from a CD?
I have an XP machine that displays the message run.dll is
missing and I'm assuming that I'll have to reinstall
Windows or at least part of it. I'm thinking that to do
this, I'll have to boot from the original installation
CD. Any ideas?

When you turn on your machine, look for the message that tells you how to
get into "System Setup" or "BIOS".. That is what you need to do and change
to boot from CD first in those sets of menus.

Usually Press F1, F2, DEL, etc... to enter System Setup.

I thought maybe there was a single key command to divert
the bootup to the CD without having to enter setup,
thanks.

That depends on your BIOS and its setup. Sometimes you can press F12 and it
will give you a BOOT menu - but that, again, depends on your BIOS and its
setup.
