boot error

I tried to run a repair install of XP 64 bit Edition, but there were a bunch
of errors. Now when I start my computer, it says
WINDOWS/system32/config/SYSTEM is missing or corrupt and that I should do a
repair install off the Windows CD. The problem is, I set every boot device in
my BIOS to CD-ROM, but it still boots off the hard drive and gives me this
error.

When you boot with the CD in the drive, during boot you should be prompted to press any key to boot from CD. Do you get the prompt or press the key when prompted?

Also during install when the machine reboots it will prompt again to press any key to boot from CD, do not press any key after the install reboot.

No, it doesn't prompt me like it should. It goes direcly to the screen where
it says the SYSTEM file is corrupt.
