Boot Error?

I am getting a boot error message of, 4th master s.m.a.r.t. hard disc
status bad, backup & replace.
The pc boots and runs then but is a bit slow. Is this telling me the hard
drive is bad or is this something I can correct? thanks, Ray

You could run a full scandisk with the option to fix errors, but I have seen
drives that are marginal fail completely when doing so. I would definitely
back up the drive immediately.

Back up and run [MAXTOR][western digital][seagate] diagnostic tools.
 
Already ran scan disc and didn't help. I will try diagnostic tools next.
