Boot disc for Windows XP

I have a Sony that came with Win XP loaded. I have a recovery system disc that will format my hard drive and reinstall Win XP.I do not have a Win XP CD to use as a boot disc. Is it possible to make a boot disc for Win XP so that I do not have to start all over when my computer will not start. This happened last week. It took 3 days to reinstall all of my programs.

You can download a bootdisk set that corresponds to your version of XP (Home
or Pro) from here

You will need 6 blank formatted floppies to create the set.

Does it have a DVD writer? If so, use a drive imaging app to create an image
and then write it to DVD. At worst, you can then use the Sony recovery CD to
get started, and overwrite that with the image from DVD.
