Hi all new to this :D , So here goes I turned my computer on yesterday
morning and as it booted up I got a message saying "BOOT FROM
CD" Never had this before so i put my CD in and everything
was fine . Today I turn it on again and the same thing happens "BOOT
FROM CD" How frustrating to do this every time I turn my
computer on. Any one know how I can just turn computer on and it boots
without CD as I used to do :) or do I have to do this every time now
??? Please HELP. Thanks ;) ;) ;)

This is a bit complicated to answer in writing, but let's try.

Firstly, unless you changed something in your BIOS, there shouldn't be
any sudden change in the behaviour of the boot process. That is, it
should either ALWAYS be asking for a CD, or never. UNLESS, you usually
have a CD in your drive, in which case you would not see the prompt you
are describing unless you remove the disk.

Your BIOS typically determines whether or not the boot should be
attempted from the CD first. If it is set to CD first, then the process
tries to look at the disk and determine whether or not it is a bootable
disk. If it is, then it will boot from it. If not, the process will go
to the next boot device (as per the BIOS specification) and try to boot
from there.

Typically (and I don't know if this part is universal or if it is BIOS
dependent) when "boot from CD" is specified, the process prompts you to
"press any key to boot from CD", and if a key is not pressed within
some predefined period of time, the "boot from CD" is bypassed.

I'd be curious to know which CD you are inserting under the
circumstances. Is it a bootable Windows CD, or what?

Had a friend who apparently suddenly noticed the message Boot from CD, Press
F2 So she learned how to update windows, one every month !
