boot and shutdown delay

Windowsxp, two minute delay booting up (welcome screen) and shutting down (windows is shutting down screen). msconfig consistently has Winnet and Nvcpl starting up everytime I boot, regardless of how many times I uncheck it. Cannot restore to a previous date (did it in the past). No explanation, just gives me the message "cannot restore to previous date". Cable modem, 2 computer LAN, no problems on other computer.

On my display screen I keep getting an alert message that winnet has encountered a problem and needs to close. I'm not sure what happened or how to fix this, can anyone help me with this, we are new to computers. Thank You!
