Bookmark at cursor with every save. How to stop it?

I must have hit a shortcut toggle key by accident. Every time I save my document while working, it puts a bookmark there. Very distracting. Anybody know how I can turn this off?

By default, Word stores, as bookmarks, the last three editing positions,
which you can reach using Shift+F5. I would have thought that these were
hidden bookmarks, but since I don't display bookmarks, I can't assert that
with confidence.

Hi Annie,

As Suzanne described, there are hidden bookmarks Word creates but they aren't visible on the screen or by viewing hidden Bookmarks under Insert/Bookmark.

I suspect you have a third-party add-in or a macro causing this issue. See if it still occurs when you start Word using the /a switch. This will start Word using the defaults and by-pass add-ins, macros, and your personal settings. Go to Start/Run and run:

winword /a

Note the space before the forward slash.

If the problem doesn't occur then take a look under Tools/Templates and Add-ins and see if you have any global templates/add-ins. If you do then they will be located in either the Word startup folder or Office\Startup folder.

The Office\Startup folder will be located in the Office installation path and the location for the Word Startup folder can be found under Tools/Options/File Locations. (You can also use Windows Search to locate the templates)

Once found move them out of the startup folder to prevent them from loading when Word starts and see if that rectifies the problem.
