Sorry if this is already in the FAQ or elsewhere.

Looking for a book/books recommendation for c#/.net specifically for
building multi-tier web applications. Im a mid-level J2EE developer and
would like to get up to speed with .NET.

although its code examples are sometimes written with java, sometimes .net,
Martin Fowler's Design Patterns Of Enterprise Architecture is great book.
