First, are you using it on a font that has a bold typeface available? I
know it sounds basic, but .... sometimes it is a good idea to touch check
the 'of course' stuff.
Overall this can be a pesky problem. It is possible that Ctl+B has been
taken over as a shortcut to another shortcut or application. In Windows XP
if you right click on any shortcut icon, you can add your own custom
keyboard shortcut. This can sometimes lead to conflicts.
Some other programs will also take over a keyboard shortcut. Have you
installed any new software since your Ctl+B worked?
If you have nothing open on your desktop and you press Ctl+B, does anything
open? If it does, check it to see if it has been assigned a custom
shortcut.
You may also want to check your StickyKeys option. No, it isn't related to
cybersmut, it is an accessibility feature that can get in the way of some
keyboard shortcuts. It is set using the following sequence.
Start ->Control Panel -> Accessibility Options-> Keyboard (tab), and
uncheck Sticky Keys.
Post back if these do or do not solve the problem so we can help further or
better help others.
