hi,
we just got this new flat screen 15" monitor and the
words look blurry. I have the resolution at 24 bit color
1024 X 768. Small letters look fine but letters that are
big look distorted. . Any ideas?

It could be a crappy monitor. There are a lot of low
quailty flat screen monitors out there.

Also the cable could be low quality. I had a aftermarket
cable and everything started to look blurry. Then I
bought a higher quailty one and it looked great. I
really don't think it has anything to do with software,
it has to be hardware.

Goodluck,
Tony

First thing to check is that Cleartype is turned on. It's made specifically
for that type of display.

To use ClearType for screen fonts

1.. Open Display in Control Panel.
2.. On the Appearance tab, click Effects.
3.. In the Effects dialog box, select the Use the following method to
smooth edges of screen fonts check box.
4.. Click ClearType in the list.
Notes

a.. To open Display, click Start, click Control Panel, and then
double-click Display.
b.. ClearType is ideal for portable computer and other flat screen
monitors. ClearType may appear slightly blurry on desktop computer monitors.
c.. Whether you select Standard or ClearType from the list, you must have
a video card and monitor that support a color setting of at least 256
colors. Best results are achieved with High color (24-bit) or Highest color
(32-bit) support. Click the Settings tab to set Color quality.

One other thing, what is the native resolution of your monitor? If you
run resolutions other than native, then the characters can appear
blurred or fuzzy on the edges.
