Hi,
I have added Generic Bluetooth device support macro component to my
configuration, which added all the necessary components to support Bluetooth
Protocol Stack.
I tried to validate the image with the Bluetooth keyboard, every thing
works fine but a pop-up displays the following message " A problem occured
during hardware installation. Your new hardware might not work properly ".
Sometimes keyboard is detected properly and displays " Your new hardware
is installed and ready to use "

Thanks in advance.

Regards,
Nyquist

Nyquist,

Sounds like you may have a broken keyboard. Have you tested it with XP Pro?

If it is not hardware related problem, for more info about the error take a look at the SetupApi.log (you may want to clean it right
before you attached the keyboard) after you see the failure message appears ("... hardware might not work properly." ).

KM,
I have validated the Bluetooth keyboard with XP Pro SP2. It is
working fine with XP SP2 i.e.,pop-up displays "Your new hardware is
installed and ready to use".

I don't know whether i have missed some components in the
configuration.

Nyquist,

Then, as I mentioned earlier, please review the SetupApi.log for related errors.
You can attach the file to this thread (or put it on some website and give us a link) so that we can help you analyzing the log.

KM,
I have checked the setupapi.log file, but their is no information
regarding error. Everything is finished successfully.
Even i checked the setupapi.log file of XP PRO SP2, both gives the same
information, no difference in them.

Nyquist,

You are right. Nothing obvious that could lead us to the error source.
Did you get that SetupAPI log after when you saw the "... hardware might not work properly." warning message?

You may want to increase the error log level for Setup APi and try it again. Read this thread on how to set the level:
http://groups-beta.google.com/group/microsoft.public.windowsxp.embedded/msg/376dbcb0b716ab04.

Also, you may want to try XP Pro Emulation image (SP2 version) from www.xpefiles.com (Development Utilities, Main folder) to see if
your problem is really a dependency issue.

KM
KM,
I have checked the setupapi.log file, but their is no information
regarding error. Everything is finished successfully.

information, no difference in them.

KM,
I tried with XP Pro Emulation SP2, but bluetooth comonents were not
properly build in the image. I manually installed those components from the
repository, every thing works fine after that.
So i thought of building my configuration with the following components:

i) Class Installer - Bluetooth
ii) Class Installer Library-Bluetooth.

I manually installed remaining components after FBA, and some components
during Bluetooth keyboard detection .
In this image, keyboard is properly detected and the pop-up displays " Your
new hardware is installed and ready to use ", no error pop-up's.

If i add those components in the configuration itself (Components shown in
the dependency check for Generic Bluetooth Device support), then keyboard is
not properly detected and error message pop-up as i mentioned in my previous
posts.

I don't know what could be the reason for this strange behaviour...
Thanks in advance,
regards,
Nyquist.

Nyquist,

I did not have time to test XPProEmulation SP2 version so I can't speak about it.

But it is a good indication you got the Bluetooth devices working with the image. That means you are likely missing some
dependencies in your image.

If you now start using Filemon and Regmon tools you may be able to find out the missing pieces.

Btw, did you add "Bluetooth Human Interface Device Support" macro component and resolved dependencies?

KM

KM,
Following are the list of components added to the configuration for
Bluetooth support:

Generic Bluetooth Device Support
Bluetooth Human Interface Device Support
Bluetooth Serial Device Support
Bluetooth Personal Area Networking Support
Bluetooth Personal Area Networking User Interface Support
Bluetooth Device (RFCOMM Protocol TDI)
Bluetooth HID Device
Bluetooth Device(Personal Area Network)
Bluetooth File Transfer
Generic Bluetooth Radio
Microsoft Bluetooth Enumerator
Microsoft Internet Keyboard Composite Device
Standard Serial Over Bluetooth link
Class Installer-Bluetooth
Class Installer Library-Bluetooth
Infrared Support
Primitive:Bth.inf
Netirda.inf

Regards,
Nyquist

Nyquist,

To me that looks like the complete list.
Well.. I guess you are only left with FileMon/Regmon option.

Btw, have you tried increasing SetupAPI log level? Anything new in SetupAPi.log related to the issue?

KM

KM,
No clue even after increasing the logging level for setupapi.log as you
specified.

Nyquist

KM,
Sometimes the bluetooth keyboard is properly detected and message
pop-up's " Your new hardware is installed and ready to use ".It means all the
required components were in the image itself, then i don't know why this
error message is popping up

Regards,
Nyquist

Nyquist,

I agree that sounded weird. You likely have all the required components in the image.
This is why it is important to get a repro test case for the issue and then use Filemon/Regmon or similar to find out what's going
on.

Not much debugging you can do with XPe as only retail binaries are there. So I can't recommend you this option.
