Blue unread number issue

We recently moved from Outlook 2000/Exchange 5.5 to Outlook 2003/Exchange
2003. We have a public folder that has no items in it (but its subfolders
do) but the Outlook client is reporting 66 "unread" items in the folder in
the users "Favorites" area (as a blue 66 to the right of the folder name).
If the user marks "all as read" the blue 66 will not go away.

I have used the System Manager to confirm there is nothing in the folder.
Any ideas?

Hello HALISGuy,
I have the same problem!
We use Exchange 2003 and Outlook 2002 (XP).
The shortcuts to public folders which we have added onto the Outlook
Shortcut Bar show a number in brackets, but this number is wrong. ie if
there
is 2 unread items in the 'Forms' public folder, the shortcut shows
'Forms
(4)'.
This problem had occurred once before, and I found that if I re-created
the
public folders (a long and time consuming process), then the shortcuts
showed
the correct quantity. Last night our power went off, and after the UPS
ran
out, the Exchange server lost power. Today, the shortcuts all show an
incorrect quantity again. I am assuming that something was corrupted
when the
power went off.
Can anyone tell me how to fix this, or does anyone know if there is a
setting somewhere that just needs to be reset, etc?
Thanks - Wayne
