Hello

I have the recuperation console (CMDCONS) installed on my machine running XP

Recently I wanted to check the hard disks and booted from it but got and
keep getting (even after re installing) a blue screen with an error message

I have recently installed new SATA HDs, replacing my ATA disks, is this
causing the problem or is it something else ?? and it worked before I
changed my HDs

Does CMDCONS, the recuperation console not work with SATA discs ???

Anybody got any ideas

Thanks

Trevor

Hi

If you are getting a BSOD, can you provide the Stop Code - with that someone may be able to isolate the problem for you.

It's rather long but here goes

STOP: 0x0000007B (0XF898A63c, 0x0000034, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)

That's all I've got

Thanks

Yes it does, but you probably need to install the SATA drivers from
floppy disk during the installation of recovery console (I assume you
had to do that for the main winXP installation?). Without the SATA
drivers, the recovery console won't be able to boot itself (remember
it's just like a mini-WinXP installation itself).

If the SATA drivers are built-in to WinXP (which I don't believe was the
case, at least not originally) then you'd still need to install Recovery
Console =after= the SATA drives were hooked up, so WinXP would install
the correct drivers automatically. Right now it's probably trying to
load from the old ATA disks (which aren't there).
