Blue screen stop code

Not sure quite where to post this so please excuse the cross posting!

Recently I had the motherboard, processor and memory upgraded in my desktop
pc.

Re-installation of programs proceeded well until the pc suddenly started
giving blue screens. These always seem to appear when I either insert a cd
or attempt to execute an exe file from te hard drive.

The stop error message gives BAD_POOL_HEADER and a code of 0x00000019. Being
distinctly non tech I didn't get beyond a Google search on the
subject - -and that didn't meake much sense to me.

Can anyone give me an explanation in simple language and perhaps walk me
through a solution?

Thanks in advance.

Steve

Thanks for pointing me to that article Peter.

It was a little too technical for me but I've printed some stuff off and
will try to make more sense of it shortly.

I'm really hoping that someone else may have experienced this problem and
may be able to share what they did to cure it.

Steve

Hi Steve,

To determine what driver is causing the problem I need you to enable driver
verifier.
Steps:
1) Windows Key + R
2) Type in 'verifier' and hit enter
3) Make sure 'Create Standard Setting' is selected and hit next
4) Click on 'Select all drivers installed on this computer' and hit Finish
5) Reboot

There is a possibility that your computer will crash on reboot. If this
occurs hit F8 when rebooting just before the windows logo screen and select
the safe mode boot option. Follow the same steps above but on step 4 choose
'Select driver names from a list'; hit next; check the box next to any
driver where the provider is not Microsoft; hit Finish; reboot.

This will slow the performance of you computer a little while enabled but
will hopefully catch the driver causing corruption. Next time you crash
the blue screen will hopefully say something like
"DRIVER_VERIFIER_DETECTED_VIOLATION". If this occurs please send the
corresponding minidump my way. If you have any questions or I didn't
explain something well enough don't hesitate to e-mail me back (remove
'online'). Good Luck,

Joshua, that message seems exactly what I need. Clear, concise and easy to
follow.

I will print it out, follow the steps and will be back in touch once I've
got soemthing to send you.

Steve

Mm, yes, my pc went into a boot loop after switching verifier on! So the
advice about safe mode was very welcome!

Before I go and attempt to get the pc to crash can you tell me where the
minidump file will be found and what the file will be called?

Steve

Hi Steve,

It can be changed, but by default it should be at C:\WINDOWS\Minidump
