Hallo,

my image ist starting without any problems in the normal mode. If I press F8
and select 'Save Mode' I get a Blue Screen after same seconds. Wich
components do I have to add to my image for the Save Mode?

Regards,
Günter

Hi Günter,

Do you have "Safe Mode Support" component?

Hi Slobodan,

My image contains the <Setup and Safe Mode VGA> component.
Is there any other 'Safe Mode Support'?

I get a blue screen with the message:
STOP: 0x0000007B (0xF9C6B440,ßxC00000034,0x00000000,0x00000000)

Any other ideas?

Günter

Hi,
Do you have SP2?
I use Windows XP Embedded SP1. Is there a known bug in SP1?

My HD contains two partitions. On partions one is Windows Embedded
and on partition two is Linux. I use grub as boot loader.

If I start Windows Embedded in the normal mode, everything works well.
If I press F8 during startup I come into the 'Windows Advanced Options
Menu'.
After I select 'Safe Mode' the progress bar on the bottom moves to the right
corner (all is white) and then I see the blue screen with
(That means: Inaccessible boot device)

In the moment I see two reasons:

1) There is a device driver missing
Therefor I add the component 'WinLogon Sample Macro' to add the
basic device drivers

2) The boot loader of windows can't find the HD/partition
But: If I am in the 'Windows Advanced Options Menu' I am on the
right partion *in* the boot loader of Windows.

It is not a bug in SP1. The feature was added to SP2 only.
In SP1 you are supposed to see BSOD on Safe Mode option.

If you ant to see Microsoft folks confirmation on this, please search NG archive.

Who's joking :-(

This is a known fact. Since SP2 contain new "feature" that allow you this. But with some time you could make safe mode work on SP1.

Günter,
You are joking, aren't you?
It's a bad world....

Well... Sometimes it is but you can always fix it :-)

Seriously, teoretically you can grab the Safe Mode component stack from SP2 and try implementing it on SP1. It would probably
require some system Dll updates.

I am talking about techinical solution only here. Legal side of it (you are going to switch to SP2 anyway) should be your concern.

Thank you for your help.
I will update my system/image with SP2.

Regards,
Günter
