IE6, WindowsXP, Latest updates
Recently(3-4 weeks now), I get a 'bloop' sound when I
start IE6 or load a web page in a new window.
I went to the sounds tab in control panel & deleted all
sounds - no change. I changed the sound scheme to "windows
default - no change. I used TweakUI and turned off "beep
on errors" which stops the beep, but also prevents the
startup and shutdown sounds from playing. I've disabled
Norton's Internet Security, NAV, and ad blocker. The only
thing I can find that works is mute!
Any suggestions?

check for spyware or a virus. spybot safer-networking.org
then update, scan on easy and see if any junk. also free
antivirus at grisoft.com in downloads. spybot also keeps
backup files of spyware in case a spyware dependent program
no longer works for restoration if needed.

Used Spybot - clean. Deleted spybot backups.
I will try to disable Norton's popup stopper. I thought
that I disabled this too.

Thanks to all that replied.
It is Norton's Popup Stopper.
(havn't figured out how to disable the bloop yet)
