Sign on door reads, "Ring doorbell". Ding dong. Who's there? Joe.
Open door, find it's a salesman, tell them to go away, and update sign
to read "Ring doorbell unless your name is Joe." Ding dong. Who's
there? Bob. Open door, find it's Joe masquerading as Bob, tell Joe-Bob
to go away, and update sign to read "Ring doorbell unless your name is
Joe or Bob." Ding dong. Who's there? Rick. Open door, find it's Joe
masquerading as Bob or Rick, tell Joe-Bob-Rick to go away, and update
sign to read "Ring doorbell unless your name is Joe or Bob or Rick."
And the cycle continues. Now who is the idiot in this scenario?

Do you really think spammers are going to use their real e-mail address?
They'll use a completely fake e-mail address, one that is random but may
use a known and valid domain, or they will use someone else's e-mail
address. Blocking on a sender's e-mail address is worthless unless they
are stupid enough to keep using their same e-mail address. Spammers
change their bogus e-mail address on every crop of turds they squeeze
out, and trojanized PCs sending spam are obviously not using the
spammer's e-mail address at all. Blocking a sender only works if the
sender again uses the same criteria upon which you based your block
(e.g., their e-mail address).

If you want to eliminate spam, get some anti-spam software (I use
SpamPal and it varied plug-ins, all of which are free). If it is
abusive, threatening, or illegal e-mail then interrogate the Received
headers and report that illegal e-mail to the sending ISP, your ISP, and
consider the viability of pressing criminal charges (the police won't do
anything by reporting the e-mail unless you will press charges).
