blocking all executables... Really?

I forward my work emails to Gmail since I love the interface and how
Gmail manages emails, but blocking ALL outgoing/incoming attachments
containing executables... that is just ridiculous and is physically
preventing me from using Gmail. I understand the idea behind it, but
there has to be a better way, such as allowing incoming emails from
contacts or just putting a warning like most other email services do.

Do you think it is a problem Microsoft can fix. I may have misunderstood this
but isnt this a gmail problem.

Don't you think your employer has a right to protect HIS network from
YOUR executables, harmless or not? This is pretty standard practice
anywhere.

Hi Jason,

Did you try zipping the file first?

Terry R.

is your employer aware of this. Work related emails should remain in the employers
environment

You're asking in the wrong place; no one here has any control over that.

Gmail suppresses ZIP files, too.

Simply rename the executable to "filename.XEE" to send it then rename it
back to "filename.EXE" after you receive it. Same with .ZIP (I use .PIZ
extensions).

Might not work if it's the company mail server removing the attachment. I
know mine checks for file type regardless of the extension. You can send an
executable with TXT file extension, my mail server removes it.

why not just rename the extention to .bmp or something that is not blcoked,
also why not talk to your boss, have a computer that scans a mem stick you
bring and just use the file there?

You can zip the executable, then encrypt the archived file _from within the
zip program_. That should get through. Then you can download and unzip it
at home. Don't forget your password. :)

Ooops, forgot a line: after encrypting the archive, change the extension
from .zip to .txt. Change it back after your download it at home.

for sending files I can change the extension but receiving I have no
control over. Plus it appears this is the wrong forum anyways.
thanks tho
