Everytime I try to go to google.com or altavista.com or
any other search engine, this strange "cPanel" page comes
up that says "There is no website configured at this
address". The page has two options to click on, the left
option that says cPanel, if I click on it, it brings up a
user name/password page. Of course, it never likes what
I type in the blanks and returns, ACCESS DENIED.

Help, I can't live without google.

This just started less than a week ago, prior to that
everything worked fine.

Laura,

clean your software installation. Run a good, up-to-date
antivirus program, then run SpyBot.

Hi Laura,

I fixed the same problem on my machine by doing these.

setp 1: Delete the file %WinDir%\Help\hosts
step 2: Set the following registry key value
(Information on editing registry keys ):
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\
Tcpip\Parameters "DataBasePath" = %SystemRoot%\System32\drivers\etc
