A friend e-mailed me with an attachment containing an
executable (.exe) file. Outlook blocks/prevents opening
this for obvious security reasons. However if I am sure of
the source's integrity and of the file and wish to open
the attachment, can I and if so how? Help please.

Are you using MS Exchange as your mail server? If so,
this blocking is probably set as a company policy by your
mail administrator and I dare say you will find it
difficult to get company policy.

However, if your sure of the source ask your friend to
rename the file from .EXE to something else before sending
it. You'll need to save it and rename it back to .EXE at
your end to use it.

fwiw, there are many products on the market that have caught on to this and
will check for this trick and block it.

Thanks Neo
It is MS Outlook, not Express. I've found the site &
hopefully the fix.

Assuming that you are talking about Microsoft Outlook and not Outlook
Express, see http://www.slipstick.com/outlook/esecup/getexe.htm

If you really meant Outlook Express, see Tools | Options | Security tab and
uncheck the second box from the top.
