I have a SONY notebook running Windows XP. I tried to
upgrade my video driver. It didn't work, or I did
something wrong. Now, when I start the computer, the
Windows logo screen appears, then it goes blank. It seems
to continue to load normally, judging by the hard disk
activity, but the screen remains blank. Please help! I
don't want to use the recovery disks. Thank you.

Try Safe Mode, by repeatedly (every second) pressing F8 when booting the
machine.

Once in that mode, open Control Panel|DISPLAY|SETTINGS and review the
settings.

If all appears to be well there, try ADVANCED|ADAPTOR|PROPERTIES|DRIVER
tab (may be different on your PC) and see if you can roll back to the
prior driver. If this is not possible, try a reinstall the original drivers.

If all fails, take the driver software and the PC to a competent technician.

Thanks. I'll give it a try.
