I put a new m/board and cpu in my friends PC, and left him to install
his own OS, afterI setup the BIOS for the hardware etc.
Now he tells me that after the install is complete and the machine re
boots, the screen goes blank.
Could this be the AGP graphics card?

thanks

??????? Could this be the AGP graphics card doing what? You have given
just about zero information! What hardwre? what OS?
Mike.

"This" could be any one of dozens of things, literally. I would recommend
that you go over, reformat his harddrive, and personally supervise the
installation of XP for starters.

Ok, sorry about that.
So after installing a brand new Asrock board and a 2.8Ghz Intel cpu,
then refitting the existing AGP graphics card, of some unknown make?? I
then attempted to install the OS, any you like from a bootable CD. In
this case I tried Windows server 2003, and after all the files were
copied across to \Windows folder, the system is then rebooted, and after
the BIOS screen appears, the screen just goes black, and nothing appears
at all. I have just tried it and seen it for myself.
I cannot install the motherboard drivers from the CD because they can't
be installed in DOS mode.
Any ideas please?
thanks

Just did that earlier, and as per previous post/reply, after OS, WINXP
is installed or files are copied to \Windows the system then reboots and
all that appears after the BIOS screen is a black screen. Nothing else

Can't boot to any mode at all, After system reboots from copied files to
\Windows folder, BIOS screen appears then nothing. F8 does not do
anything at all.
Thanks

still trying to boot from CDROM with the disk in even though the files have
been copied?

Well not exactly, after files have been copied/installed, the CD was
left in the tray, and the message to press any key to boot from Cd was
ignored, then blank screen.
Thanks

The usual thing overlooked is the four pin connector from power supply to
M.B. You did connect it didn't you? It sounds like a power problem.
