Blank Passwords and user profiles

Hey all, at our company we use a genaric user ID with a
blank password to logon to an application server. After
setting up some shortcuts on this profile and rebooting,
we found that the shortcuts didn't stay! I've been told
that this is because we are using a blank password, is
this true? If so, is there a security policy we can set
to circumvent this?

Please don't flame me, I know that this is completely
wrong (from a security standpoint) and am working on
changing it, but for now, is there a quick way to change
it?

Thanks
Crim

I don't think it has anything to do with a blank password,
it appears that your administrator has set up a mandatory
profile for the account. Any changes are lost after
logoff. If you had access, you would change the ntuser.man
file for the profile on the server to ntuser.dat to allow
updates, or add whatever you wanted to the profile on the
server and leave it as mandatory.
