Blank e-mails cause errors in Outlook

Hello, I have read all about blank e-mails and how to set rules, but Outlook
2003 will not bring them in from my server so that I can set a rule for them.
Instead, I get an error message saying that Outlook cannot connect to the
server. Then I go to my web-based e-mail (Horde) and see that there is a
blank e-mail. The sender is nbsp;. Once this happens, the only way to
resolve it is delete the e-mail in Horde and then all of the other e-mails
that are also sitting in Horder will go into Outlook. This is happening 5 to
6 times a day.

TIA,
Robin

Can you set up a filter on the mail server to delete those messages?

Hi Brian,

Unfortunately I am not able to filter out the blank e-mails on the server
unless I install SPAM assassin. I was hoping that there would be a non-SPAM
assassin solution.

I was assuming you use a POP account to an ISP's mail server. Under that
assumption, there is often an option in the mail account configuration on
the ISP's web site to filter out certain kinds of junk so they aren't even
placed in your mail server message store. If I've made an invalid
assumption, what type of server do you use?

Brian,

I am using POP. I am on a Linux Red Hat Enterprise server with qMail.
There is no option to filter out blank mail - at least that I can see.

I do have server level access and can make modifications as I manage the
server.

Robin
