I am all to frequently receiving emails with attachments that are a blank
page when opening. I have notified the senders, but to no avail. Can anybody
explain why this is happening?

Are these senders you know, or strangers? If strangers, opening attachments
from them is among the most foolhardy and dangerous things you can do.

Opening attachments form people you can can also be very dangerous, but
we'll let that pass from now. If they are from people you know, what does
"to no avail." mean? Do they respond? What do they tell you?

What are the file names of these attachments--particularly the entension
(the last three characters, after the dot).

Johnfish,

The lack of information you provide makes it impossible to answer your
question.

The attachments are from people I know, but they are not that computer literate. The file extensions are mostly .eml Every once in a while, I'll get one that is not blank with same file extension.eml Hope I've explained it a little better.

Not mentioning the email program or version is a significant omission.
There are newsgroups devoted to (for example) Outlook, Outlook Express etc.
