Black screen after system restore

Recenty I performed a system restore on my Win XP Pro
comp. After the restore was complete all I get is a black
screen with the mouse pointer on it. If I try to boot up
in safe mode, all I get is a black screen with the safe
mode letters on each corner. I looks like only white
colors are showing up, but i dontknow how to fix it.
