I viewed the following in the Event Viewer as an error msg: AMLI: ACPI BIOS is attempting to read from an illegal IO port address (0xcfc), which lies in the 0xcf8 - 0xcff protected address range. This could lead to system instability. Please contact your system vendor for technical assistance. The suggested "fix" was to update the BIOS. How can I choose the correct BIOS? I have checked under driver.com and several are listed
My system has the following

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Be very careful here-the wrong update may render your
system useless.
(Search the ms KB for ACPI BIOS)
First check with your system manufacturer to see if there
is a bios update available.
2.Check with the motherboard manufacturer. You will
probably need your moboard serial number.
3.I found www.esupport.com to be helpful if all else
fails. (note that they couldn't supply me with an update
because Gateway had propriety on it. This is why you go to
the system mfgr first).
Best luck - I never found one newer.

Is this error message causing any failure with the operating system? If not
disregard it. Bios update can be risky . Update from motherboard
manufacturer only. Jym
