I recently purchased an old K-7 AMD Duron. I need assistance on a web site
to go to for Bios Flash. Respectfully,

The first question is why do you want to flash the BIOS?

Certainly don't do it just because it's X years old and there are upgrades
available. Although a BIOS upgrade normally goes well, it is not without
danger. If something goes wrong while the upgrade is an progress (for
example, a lapse in power) you can be left with no BIOS at all, and an
unbootable computer.

Do a BIOS upgrade if you need to--because you are having a problem that the
new version is known to fix--not just because one is available.

Hey guys I agree, I'm the Lecturer on not flashing the Bios. Installed a
200Gig. Seagate HDD. I have a Server License 2003, with 5 Cals. I'm not
showing The 48 LBA allocation. And I Don't know if Server 2003 has the
patchces like WinXP. I don't want to Install and the lose the end of my HDD.
I know i can go ahead and format the drive at 137.gigs, but thats a lot of
waste. I'm intuitive to any Suggestions.
Thanks, Woz

Bios flash programs are best had from the motherboard maker. Be sure the
file addresses a problem you need to solve.

I have flashed a BIOS on a number of occasions but unless you need the
'updated' BIOS because of some incompatibility with hardware i'd leave well
alone. I remember very well the time i flashed the BIOS and didn't notice
that an error message had appeared telling me the checksum didn't match. The
end result was a useless motherboard!

Old whatever means nothing. Nonspecific website and its specific address
for the bios update means even less.

Grin. It's happened to all of us :)

Yes but why do we have the impulse to press the OK button knowing very well
that the checksum is wrong. It's like pressing the self destruct button:-)
