1. If the power fails during a bios upgrade - the computer is toast. Get a
UPS power supply. They cost $100 and up. Keep that power to the computer -
at all costs. This includes NOT turning off the computer during a bios
upgrade (but you knew that, right?).
2. Go to the M/B manufacturers website and look for their bios updater and
the latest bios upgrade for "your" computer. You can sometimes install an
upgrade for a different M/B. It will kill your computer. Get the correct
one.
3. Read everything about how to flash the bios from the M/B site.
4. Search in Google. Especially look for articles that concern the problems
you may run into. They are countless.
5. A flashed bios is a "clean" bios. It will not have the customizations
that were in the previous bios. YOU are expected to then adjust the bios for
correct computer operation. You don't know how to do this. LET SOMEONE ELSE
do it for you. A wrong setting will/may result in you being locked out of
your computer.
6. Have access to a second computer that you can use to access the internet.
You need this to get information on how to repair your system when/if you
screw up!
