I need to see my bios startup screen to get my bios info
but it keeps going to the splash screen. How do I stop
the computer at the very first screen? (I am trying to get
bios info to flash the bios and update). Thanks!

can you turn thr splash screen of in the bios ?

Jen;
That is the function of the BIOS and has nothing to do with Windows.
Check your manual and/or contact the motherboard/computer manufacturer
for details.

Typically during boot there will be a message similar to "Press ** to
enter set-up"
Typical key are F1, F2, Esc, Delete, and others.

The bios is usually entereed by pressing a combination of keys when your pc
starts up. This can be the 'Delete' key or some other key. You need to check
your pc/motherboard manual to see what key(s) need to be pressed.
As you boot up your pc you will either see a pc manufacturer's logo or
simple text. The logo will be obvious, the text will be checking memory
xxxxxMB followed by a list of periperals, i.e., hard drive, cd rom etc. You
should also see, on the text version, your bios details. Visit the bios
manufacturer's website because some provide a small program you can download
that will give you all the information regarding your bios version details.
However, if you need to enter the bios directly it is as this logo or text
appears that you need to start pressing the required key. Just keep
regulalrly tapping the key until a blue menu screen appears. Once you have
the blue menu screen you are in the Bios. If you get to the window welcome
screen you'll have to start again.
One more word of warning. Flashing the bios is not for the faint hearted.
Things can go wrong so be wary. Remember the old American saying, 'if it
ain't broke, don't fix it.' In most cases the bios update simply adds
functionality for some hardware or something similar. You probably won't
even use what the bios updates.

Most, repeat, most computers require the user to hit a certain key during
POST to get into the BIOS. Mine is <DEL>

Check your owner's manual or try hitting the <DEL> when you see the memory
being counted.

Yes, I do see the bios details, but it goes by too fast.
That is what I need to see before it goes into the splash
screen. I do not need to enter the bios. I did go to the
bios people (AMI) and they said i need to get the version,
etc., that comes up during POST. When I hit delete it goes
into the bios setup, and that's not what I need. I know
that bios updates aren't for the faithearted--I guess I
wouldn't be here if I were fainthearted. I do need to add
functionality to my hardware--my games need it. Thanks.

You could download the sharware diagnostic tool 'sisodt sandra' from
www.sisoftware.net I would imagine that, like most sharware, you can
probably obtain a 30 day trial version. Once installed open the application
and click on the CPU & BIOS Information icon. The first thing it will check
is your cpu. Once the details have appeared go tot he dialog box at the top
of the window where it says Processor 1 and click the arrow on the right of
the dialog box. A drop down menu should appear and in it you should see
Processor 1 and underneath BIOS click System BIOS. Sandra will then check
your bios details and list the bios manufacturer, version and bios date.

I've just been to the sisoft sandra web site and you can download a copy for
private use. Obviously the testing modules and listing modules are disabled
but the other options work fine.
