Hi - My computer refuses to beep at Start Up.
(No BIOS BEEP-post). It then proceeds normally to logon.

Entering BIOS Setup and exiting WITHOUT any
alterations, will produce the post-beep.
After that, back to square-one!

Any possible explanation?
My System Pentium3
Windows XP Pro (SP1)

Thanks

Hi,

See if my response in the newusers group helps.

It has nothing to do with the OS. One single beep indicates a successful
POST(Power On Self Test) If you reboot or cold boot your machine and it does
not beep, but boots in to Windows normally, don't worry about it. I've had
many motherboards do the very same.

Thanks for the info "Heenan"

What's the problem? It's booting normally isn't it? I couldn't stand the beeping the mb made on my machine so I ripped out the speaker. as far as not knowing if there is an error on POST, well my board has a set of LEDs that gives a visual status.
