Hi. So, I had a big problem with the registry and, making
much more mess, I was asked for an administrator password
in the recovery console (since I couldn't access win)that
doesn't exist (it was just an error). So I installed a
second installation of windows hoping to save my data:
the installation works with some problems of drivers and
stuff, but I still can't get into my data. Well, my
question is the sequent: If I move, in the FIRST windows
installation, the five registry files of the repair
folder, would I make just a bigger mess with the registry
of both systems or would I be able to access the both
windows installations? Please answer ASAP!!
Thanx

If it is files that you cannot access when in the new
install, it is likely due to NTFS permissions. To resolve
this you need to Take Ownership of the inaccessible
filesystem areas. Using the repair version of the registry
from the prior system will not have any effect on these
filesystem permissions. What you would end up with
if you used those repair files depend on when you last
caused them to be updated in the old system. They will
likely carry much in the way of references to installed
programs that are not in the new system, and you might
get into drive letter problems if the two builds are installed
into separate partitions, and if they are not in separate
partitions, then you will get into some problems with one
being at .\Windows and the other at something else.
