Best way to travel?

Outlook 2003, under WinXP Pro, all updates on both. No Exchange server,
just POP mail off our remote web server.

I usually copy the PST to my notebook. I leave the desktop machine online
and configure Outlook to leave messages on the server for five days. This
gives me time to fly and find Internet connectivity without loosing any
emails.

Because of how difficult it has been to move rules from machine to machine
it is inevitable that my notebook's PST after the trip will not have things
sorted as they would be on the desktop machine. After an extended trip it
is a little painful to have to go through all the mail on the desktop
machine, delete hundreds of spam messages and sort it all out.

There has to be a better way. I don't want an MS Exchange server or
anything like that (yet). Going on a trip in a few days. No time for such
improvements. Is there a better approach or is what I am doing as good as
it gets for now?

Hoping to find a secret gem...

Thanks,

-Martin

Well, the best solution might be to avoid having to deal with the "hundreds
of spam messages" . See here for more advice:
http://www.lbetoolbox.com/how-to-stop-spam.htm

If you are happy with scripting Outlook and can identify those emails you
might need to respond to while away, you could script Outlook to forward
those to another email address which you check whilst on holiday.

Or, use www.logmein.com (Logmein Free) to access your home computer from an
internet cafe.
