What is the best 3rd party ASP.NET Datagrid control that is available
(either free or purchase)?

That really depends on what you want you are trying to accomplish and what you are willing to spend, they all do different things above and beyond the normal DataGrid.
 
Just a good overall, well-rounded, full featured, easy to use, powerful
datagrid. Nothing specific. Just a popular, good one.
