I was going to suggest Clarify to solve this problem but the Bellsnwhistles
site now says:

You might still like to look at Clarify. It works wonders with irritating
backgrounds.

"ClarifyButton requires Internet Explorer version 5.0 or higher."

Is there something similar for Firefox?
