Help - I am not sure what I have done - the bar that used to appear at the
top of the page which allowed me to type in information has disappeared and I
can't get it back. Please advise

Do you have a "white bar" up there, but all it has in it is a cell
reference? If so, look to the very right of that bar... there will be a gray
(well, it's gray in my theme) rectangle with a semi-circular left side, the
letters fx and a small shaded circle. Click and drag the shaded circle to
the left to reveal the "Formula Bar" that you were missing.

Click on the Office Button | Excel Options | Advanced | Display and check
the Show formula bar

And the other possibility is you hid it. If my first suggestion doesn't
solve your problem, then try clicking on the View tab in the Ribbon, find
the Show/Hide panel and put a check mark in the Formula Bar check box.

The big round Circle button in the upper left. The Excel Options button
will be at the bottom of the next screen.

You can find the option Jeffrey is referring to directly on the Ribbon (see
my 2nd posting to you); but, for future reference, the Office Button is that
big round circle in the top left corner of Excel 2007's frame.
