I have used OE for my e-mail for a long time, but am considering changing to
Outlook. I now have a need to develop and maintain a moderate sized client
contact database and I understand that newer versions of Outlook have such
capabilities.

Aside from the contact database, what advantages are there to using Outlook
compared to Outlook Express?

Hey, I am a beginner at the newsgroup.

I suppose the most advantages for Outlook come on a local network where you have multiple users, shared permissions, shared calendars, that sort of thing.

Aside from that, it gives you Microsoft Word Editing capabilities. E-mail with color, fonts, etc.

I just started using Outlook 2003. I has advanced page preview and viewing options, flagging for e-mails, etc.

Other than contacts, I use the calendar a lot. Drag and drop an e-mail on the calendar for say, an April 5th alert to revisit that message.

Hope that gives you some ideas.

Outlook Express can only read mail and news. Outlook can read mail (it
still uses Outlook Express as the newsreader), keep your Contacts, schedule
your meetings, and keep track of the tasks you have to do. It's quite
versatile.
