Beep

My Windows XP Pro Dell laptop has started emitting a single short beep every
several minutes. Every program seems to be working but this is worrisome. I
talked with Dell and did diagnostic tests. They say that the beeping is not
a hardware problem and therefore must be a software problem. Can anyone
either tell me what the beeps mean or what to do or both? Thanks.
