When changing the "Volume Control" (the leftmost volume) using the slider
the computer lets out an annoying (to me) beep. My work computer does not
do this; however, it used to and I do not know why it does not now.

Does anyone know how to stop that particular beep?

Thanks.

It is an option in the sound properties, all systems have
different settings within the configuration, you will need
to play with your settings until you find the issue.

On my laptop I could not find this option but I had a
client that had this same issue and I resolved it by doing
the above.

Is the beep coming from your Tower or from your speakers?

If from your speakers simply go into Control Panel\Sounds and set the
"default beep" sound to "none".

If it is coming from the speaker in your tower then you need to go to
the followig site and download and run the fix on line # 6.

http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm

This fix will fix and enable the default beep. So if you then dont
want it coming from your speakers just go in and set the event to
"none"
