I have recently been getting a continuous beeping when I
run various programs. The pc speaker (internal speaker)
when it starts beeping it beeps at a frequency of about 1
per second. If anyone has any useful info on a possible
cause and/or remedy it would be appreciated.

Check the manual that came with your computer. The beeping means you have
some sort of problem. Could be the processor over heating or bad memory etc.

According to similar posts, this can be caused by:

1. Weatherbug is installed.
2. Holding the shift key down while a CD is in the drive.
3. Having music playing and opening any other program or window.
4. When the CPU becomes maxed (power supply or fan issue).
5. Having a Sound Blaster Live 5.1 sound card installed/Creative
speakers. Updated drivers didn't work for some users, but flashing
the bios did for Dell/Audigy users.
6. Internet related programs - having the Google Toolbar installed.
