While removing a spyware problem from my computer I think (I think) I may
have deleted some important files from XP Home. Various things are not
working properly ( desktop cannot get a Picture, Start>Programs - many are
missing, Some files are empty...) Anyhow, is there an easyish way to
replenish the fies - like putting XP ontop of XP without removing everything,
all the updates and SP2?? I need this in fairly Non-Techy instructions.
Thanks so much
Lisa

You can try 1 or both, install xp cd,exit the info page,go to run type:cmd
In cmd type:VERIFY ON Then type:Sfc /Scannow When its thru type:
CHKDSK C: /F Agree to restart,then type:EXIT Restart computer,remove cd.
Or,install xp cd,exit screen, restart computer, boot to xp cd (you may need to
adjust for this in BIOS,1st boot device),at xp cd boot screen, select
install xp,
"repair this copy".You'll loose all xp updates, but files, settings, etc. stay
intact.
