basic account set up

I'm running XP Pro on a Toshiba Tecra M2 with only me as a user and account.
I have a password to turn the notebook on either at start up or from
hibernation. Is there a way I can get it to go from the password direct to
my desktop. Currently after entering the password I then have to click on my
account name (which is the only one)?

You'll want to disable the Welcome Screen. Control Panel > Users> Change the
way users log on or off> Do not use the Welcome Screen.
